The separate concentrate number matters because a small container can hold a legally significant amount. Identify the product category from its package rather than guessing from texture or container size.
These numbers describe possession under current New York guidance. They do not recommend consumption or require a retailer to complete any particular transaction.
The home-storage rule is larger and stricter.
A person may possess up to five pounds of cannabis at a private residence, but it must be securely stored. Secure storage means taking household access seriously. Keep cannabis away from children, pets, guests, and anyone who is not authorized to use it.
Original packaging and a locked location add different layers of protection.
Home-cultivated cannabis still counts toward applicable rules and does not become lawful to sell without authorization.
Limits do not travel across borders.
New York possession law does not authorize taking cannabis across a state or international boundary. The federal prohibition remains relevant at borders, federal property, and other federal jurisdictions. Do not plan a purchase around transporting cannabis to New Jersey, Connecticut, Canada, or another destination outside New York.
